NHF to Award Hospice Ambassador Torrey DeVitto
Torrey DeVitto is one of the busiest actresses working today, who amidst her professional career finds time to raise awareness about hospice care as the first official Hospice Ambassador for the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. DeVitto is not just a hospice advocate, for the past six years she has been a volunteer for Mission Hospice in Glendale, California. For her many contributions, the National Hospice Foundation is honoring DeVitto at its annual gala on April 26, 2013. DeVitto is starring as Maggie Hall in the hit television series “Army Wives” on the Lifetime Network; she appears as Dr. Meredith Fell on “The Vampire Diaries” and is Melissa Hastings on the ABC Family Channel’s “Pretty Little Liars.” Later this year she will be seen in the major motion picture, “Evidence.”
For her dedication in increasing understanding of hospice, NHF is awarding DeVitto with the Buchwald Spirit Award for Public Awareness at the organization’s ninth annual gala at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, on April 26. The award was named in memory of Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Art Buchwald who became the public voice for hospice care in the last year of his life.

Torrey Joins Army Wives!
Can you picture Pretty Little Liars’ Melissa Hastings in camouflage? What about behind the wheel of a truck? Well, according to TV Fanatic, that’s exactly what you’re going to see.
Torrey DeVitto is leaving Rosewood (temporarily) to head to the world of Lifetime’s Army Wives. Torrey was recently cast as a series regular on the popular drama, in which she’ll play Maggie Hall, a married ex-soldier who left the Army to be a mother and now works as a truck driver.
Military life, children, and trucks? Talk about a far cry from Melissa. Let’s just hope Maggie’s taste in men is better than Melissa’s.

The Quirky Way A “Vampire Diaries” Star Stays Fit
Often, when you read interviews with celebrities about their fitness routines, you hear about their frequent appointments with trainers. Some even travel with their workout gurus! That’s why it was refreshing to speak Torrey DeVitto of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Pretty Little Liars,” who prefers to sweat at home and with the masses at the gym. Keep reading to find out what else DeVitto does to stay healthy with a busy filming schedule.
Tell us about your fitness routine.
I used to be really into Pilates and hot yoga. I have a friend whose fiance is really into CrossFit, and right around the time when I learned that, I had watched the movie Warrior. I was inspired to try CrossFit myself! I’ve been going three times a week for the past month and love it. It’s so much fun, almost like a relay, and is always different. I’m so much stronger already.My other fitness hobby is hula hoop dancing! After seeing a photo of a friend doing it on Facebook, I asked my mom for a Hoopnotica kit for Christmas. The hoop came with a DVD and I learned every move. I’d say I do it for an hour a day. Sometimes I just hoop along to music on YouTube, other times I take it to the park. I’d never been as sore in my life as I was when I was learning how to use the hoop.
Wow! It sounds like you’re very active. What do you eat to fuel all of your exercise?
I try so hard to eat well, but have to admit that I eat like crap sometimes. I’m such a sucker for bagels and barbecue chips. I don’t count calories, but try to eat the way my body wants me to eat most of the time. I love to grab cranberry tuna salads and kale salads from Whole Foods.

Paul & Torrey to Host H‐Couture 2012 Fashion Show
Paul and Torrey, stars of the hit CW series “The Vampire Diaries,” will serve as hosts of The Humane Society of the United States’ H‐Couture 2012. The fashion show will debut on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at a private Brentwood estate. Celebrating fashion forward style, designed not to be harmful to animals, H‐Couture 2012 will showcase the latest in designer menswear and womenswear for conscious living.
“We are excited to be hosting the first ever H‐Couture event on behalf of The Humane Society of the United States because we both support events that promote compassion for animals,” says Wesley.
DeVitto adds, “Fashion should be fun, and I don’t see how wearing animal fur can be anything other than cruel and unnecessary. This event will show that anyone can be fashion‐conscious without animals having to pay the price.”

The CW renews ‘Vampire Diaires’ for a 4th Season!

May 3, 2012 (Burbank, California) – The CW Network has given early pickups to the network’s top-rated show, The Vampire Diaries, fan favorite SUPERNATURAL, and the world’s most-famous zip code, 90210, with all three series to return for the 2012-2013 season.
THE Vampire Diaries will return for a fourth season of bloody good drama this fall, SUPERNATURAL will mark its eighth season with the monster-hunting Winchester brothers on The CW, and on 90210, the gang from West Beverly will return for season five.
Based on the series of books by L. J. Smith, THE Vampire Diaries is from Bonanza Productions Inc., Outerbanks Entertainment and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Kevin Williamson (“Scream,” “Dawson’s Creek”), Julie Plec (“Kyle XY,” “Wasteland”), Leslie Morgenstein (“Gossip Girl,” “Private”) and Bob Levy (“Gossip Girl,” “Privileged”).

PLL’s Torrey DeVitto is a Master Violinist
Torrey DeVitto is one talented star! Besides being an actress and international model, she’s also a successful violinist. Torrey’s been playing since she was six years old and performed a solo piece at model Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook’s wedding when she was 12. Impressive, right?
Torrey’s still pursuing her violin career today and is featured on one of Stevie Nick’s new songs called “Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream)” on her new album In Your Dreams. The CD was released this week and we can’t wait to hear Torrey’s instrumental sounds. Torrey comes from a musical family and her dad, Liberty DeVitto, was a drummer for Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, and Stevie Nicks.
Maybe she’ll even perform on Pretty Little Liars sometime, especially if they do a music episode!
